75th Anniversary Frequently Asked Questions

Who can attend this event?

The 75th is open to any and all friends of camp. Former and current campers, former and current staff, parents, families, volunteers and anyone associated with camp (past, present or future) is welcome.

When is the event?
The 75th is a one day event held at Good Counsel Camp on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 9:00am - 8:30pm

Do I need to register?
Yes! Registering helps in many ways, allowing us to know exactly how many people are attending so we can plan to have the correct amount of food, supplies, etc. The registration fee allows us to cover the cost of the food and events. Any remaining money collected will be a direct donation to the Good Counsel Camp Alumni Association and Good Counsel Camp. Please visit the bottom of the event page to register.

What will the event be like?

The 75th will simulate a typical day at camp and will allow attendees the opportunity to relive their time at GCC. Our current schedule is below and is subject to change:

9:00am - Opening Ceremony
9:30am - Open Departments
12:00pm - Lunch
1:00pm - 75th Anniversary Ceremony
2:00pm - Afternoon Activities
5:30pm - Dinner
6:30pm - Mass
8:00pm - Campfire

During the event, we will be holding a raffle in which attendees can win various camp prizes. Lunch and Dinner are included with registration. Attendees are welcome to join in any of the scheduled events or are free to spend time walking through camp.

What does the event cost?

Event registration is $19.47, which includes all day admission to the event, as well as lunch and dinner.

Register by 6/1/2022 to receive 10 free raffle tickets (10 $1 tickets) to be used at the event.
All attendees must register by 9/1/2022.
GCCAA Members receive free registration (but must still register for the event)

Where do my registration, raffle revenue, and donations go?

50% of all event revenue (after expenses) will support GCC program and enrichment activities as identified by camp over time. The other 50% of all event revenue (after expenses) will support the GCCAA mission of Membership, Stewardship, Fellowship, and Scholarship.

Where can I stay if I am attending the event?

We have reserved a block of rooms at the local Holiday Inn Express & Suites Inverness/Lecanto that can be booked by event attendees. When booking, simply mention the event and use code "GCC" to receive a discounted rate.

Advanced Booking Rates (includes breakfast):
2 Queen Beds - $114 plus tax/night
King Suite - $135 plus tax/night

There are four options to book a room with special code "GCC":
1. Call the property directly -  352-341-3515
2. Calling 1-800-HOLIDAY (465-4329)
3. Sign onto www.hiexpress.com, input the location and booking code "GCC"
4. Sign onto www.ihg.com, input the location and booking code "GCC"

There are other hotels in the area and here are some that we recommend:
Central Motel Inverness (4 miles from camp) - https://centralmotel.com/
Moonrise Resort (1.5 miles from camp and accessible by boat) - https://moonriseresort.com/
Sunshine Lodge (2.7 miles from camp and accessible by boat) - https://www.sunshinelodgefl.com/

We recommend booking early, as these lakeside resorts tend to fill up with winter visitors!

What if I am an official member of the Good Counsel Camp Alumni Association?

If you are an official member of the GCCAA, your membership benefits include free registration to the event (you must still register for the event). In addition to the 75th event itself (on Saturday), all official members of the GCCAA are invited to spend the entire weekend with us for an Alumni gathering (Friday - Sunday). In addition to the Lunch and Dinner being offered to all attendees on Saturday, Alumni members will be offered a Friday Dinner and Sunday Breakfast. For Alumni members staying through the entire weekend, you will be able to reserve a spot in a cabin on camp property. Those staying the weekend may be asked to help with various aspects of the event, like set up, clean up, etc.

I would like to become a member of the GCCAA to get free registration, can I still become one?

We are always welcoming new members to the GCCAA and we are currently offering a $10 New Member Special from now until the 75th Anniversary. Registration for the 75th event is $0 (no cost) to all GCCAA members. Membership has its benefits - becoming a member will enable you to stay all weekend or join just for the event day itself.
